How many calories do I need to lose weight?

I would like to write an article to answer the question on the amount of calories should i eat daily to lose weight?

This question is a very common one, as the majority of health specialists have said that people should limit their calorie intake as they eat too much food with high calorie count.

I have some issues with this approach, mainly since I don’t believe that calorie counting is necessary. Obesity has raised even though almost everyone owns a calculator and can do math.

While it may be correct that calorie count is important, this isn’t too important for normal people like you and me.

For now, let’s assume that the “calories in, calories out” theory works and that you might just shed weight by just stopping eating your favorite foods (fast foods, for example).

This theory tells us that people are becoming obese since they eat more food than they “burn” food. The calorie content of those extra food are then transformed by the body into fat, giving our body additional weight and will later lead to obesity.

If you were to drop 30 pounds with this technique and targeting a 500 calorie deficit a day, then you would have to weigh almost every piece of food you eat and calculate the calories in it, every day for 7 months.

Also, let’s pretend that you can do all of these (due to strong willpower), leaving yourself hungry and depraved of energy. Do you think you’ll be good to go after that?

As if you desire to lose weight, you have no choice but to do this or else, you will gain all the weight that you have lost.

Additionally there’re several issues with calorie counting:

Your metabolism depends on height, body fat levels, age, sex, activity level, hormones, genetics and many more factors.

Restricting your calorie intake will affect your metabolic rate, with its rate changing high and low.

The brain controls body fat levels, and it’ll increase your hunger and reduce your activity levels to try and resist any changes.

Needing to weigh each and every food you eat will be a massive obligation in your life. You won’t wish to do these in front of other people, since this is just plain embarrassing, and rude as well.

This theory is simply hard. We can’t expect people to weigh and count every single piece of food they eat for the rest of their lives, that’s really what is required to slim down this way.

Additionally, I believe that the entirety of the human race can not control their desires, and that includes food consumption.

I will discuss a hormone that’s crucial to your body, and I am certain that you’ve heard of it already. It’s known as Insulin.

Insulin is mainly known for controlling blood sugar levels, and a lack of it makes people become diabetics.

Not just does it prevent diabetes, but additionally, it acts as a guard to your fat cells.

Once levels of insulin are increased, the body’s fat cells are now “ordered” to store fat, and make sure that the amount of fat inside it doesn’t get out.

If insulin levels are high despite the fact that you’re eating less calories than you burn, then your body fat will have a real difficult time getting out of your fat cells.

This will make your body feel energy deprived and your brain will respond.

Which then leads to the inevitable “hunger”.

What I suggest, is choosing foods that don’t cause a large amount of insulin release.

One such example of that content is the macronutrient “carbohydrate”. A drop in carbohydrate intake reduces levels of insulin.

In this way, some of the fat stored inside the body are burnt and the sense of hunger dissipates. The science proves it.

Appetite is reduced and the body starts using its own body fat for energy.

Remember, weight reduction isn’t really affected by calories, but rather, the kind of foods that we eat and foods that encourage weight-loss.
